Would You Rather
Play would you rather online with 105 clean questions for kids, friends and families. Each question gives two choices, and everyone taps the one they prefer. The game counts the votes so a group can see which side wins, then serves a fresh question that will not repeat until the whole list has been played. Choose from Kids, Funny or Thoughtful questions, or add your own. It is free and works on any phone, tablet or laptop.
How to Play Would You Rather
- Pick a question style: Kids, Funny or Thoughtful.
- Read the question out loud. Each player decides which of the two choices they would pick.
- Everyone taps their answer, one tap per person. The blue and pink buttons show the number of votes and the percentage for each side.
- Ask a few players to explain their choice. The reasons are often the best part of the game.
- Tap Next question to keep going. The result is saved in the game history below the tool.

Kids questions are simple and imaginative, like choosing between a pet dragon and a pet unicorn, or living in a treehouse or a castle. They are great for younger children, reading practice and family dinners.
Funny questions are silly dilemmas that get a group laughing, such as sneezing glitter or burping bubbles, or racing one horse-sized duck against 100 duck-sized horses. They work well at parties and sleepovers.
Thoughtful questions take a little longer to answer, like choosing between a job you love for little pay and a job you dislike for great pay. They are good for deeper conversations, team meetings and older students.
Why Would You Rather Works So Well
Both choices are fine, so nobody can give a wrong answer. That makes the game easy for shy players and people who have just met. At the same time, the reasons people give say a lot about what they value, what they enjoy and how they think. A quick vote turns into a conversation, and a simple question can fill ten minutes of laughing and debating.
Ways to Use It
- Classroom warm-ups: project the screen, let students vote, then ask them to explain their choice in one full sentence.
- English practice: learners practise phrases like “I would rather… because…”.
- Family dinners and road trips: one person reads, everyone answers.
- Team icebreakers: start a meeting with one Thoughtful question to get everyone talking.
- Video calls: share your screen, or copy each question into the chat.
Game Variations to Try
- Give a reason: every player must explain their choice in one sentence before the next question.
- Guess the majority: before voting, each player predicts which side will win. Correct guesses earn a point.
- Hot seat: one player answers while everyone else guesses their choice first.
- Switch sides: after the vote, one player from the winning side has to argue for the other choice.
Tips for Writing Your Own Questions
The best questions make both sides tempting, so the vote is close. Keep each choice short and clear, and make sure both options are kind and safe for everyone in your group. To add a question, open Settings and type both choices on one line with a vertical bar between them, for example “eat pizza for breakfast | eat pancakes for dinner”. Your questions are saved in your browser, so they are still there the next time you play on the same device.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Are the questions suitable for kids?
Yes. All 105 built-in questions are clean and family friendly. The Kids style is written especially for younger players, and the Funny and Thoughtful styles are fine for older children and adults too. - How do the votes and percentages work?
They count only the taps made on your screen during this game, so a group can vote together on one device. They are not a poll of other visitors, and nothing is sent to a server. - Will the same question come up twice?
Not until every question in that style has been played. After that, the list is shuffled and starts again. - How do I add my own questions?
Open Settings and write one question per line with a vertical bar between the two choices. Tick “Use only my own questions” to play with your list alone. - What is the difference between this and the This or That Generator?
This or That gives quick picks between two things, like coffee or tea. Would You Rather gives full scenarios to imagine, which usually lead to longer answers and more discussion. - Can we play over a video call?
Yes. Share your screen, or use Copy and Share to send each question to the group chat. - Is it free?
Yes. There is no download, no account and no cost.
