Truth or Dare

Play truth or dare online with 200 clean, family-friendly prompts. Pick a category for kids, friends or parties, add the names of everyone playing, and tap Truth, Dare or Random. The game tells you whose turn it is, never repeats a prompt until the whole list has been used, and lets you add your own questions and challenges. It is free and works on any phone, tablet or laptop.

How to Play Truth or Dare Online

  1. Choose a category: Kids, Friends or Party.
  2. Type the players’ names if you want the game to keep track of turns. You can skip this and just pass the phone around.
  3. The first player taps Truth, Dare or Random. Random lets the game decide for you.
  4. Answer the truth honestly or complete the dare, then hand over to the next player shown under the buttons.
  5. Not happy with a prompt? Tap Skip this one to get a different truth or dare for the same player.

Choosing the Right Category

Kids is made for younger players and family nights. The truths are about favorite foods, dream superpowers and funny memories, and the dares are simple, like walking like a penguin or telling a joke. Nothing needs special equipment or leaves the room.

Friends has light, personal questions that are fun to answer in a group, such as your worst cooking disaster or the song you secretly know every word to. The dares are silly challenges like talking in rhymes or commentating on another player like a sports announcer.

Party works well as an icebreaker when people do not know each other well, at a classroom event, an office get-together or a birthday. The questions are easy to answer in front of a group, and many dares get everyone involved at once.

House Rules That Keep the Game Fun

Truth or dare is best when everyone feels comfortable. Before you start, agree on a few simple rules:

  • Anyone can pass. Give each player a small number of passes, for example two per game, and respect them without arguing.
  • Keep it kind. Truths and dares should be funny, never mean. Do not use the game to embarrass or pressure anyone.
  • Stay safe. Skip any dare that could hurt someone, damage something or involve strangers. All built-in dares are designed to be safe, but use common sense, especially with your own prompts.
  • What is said in the game stays in the game. Do not share other players’ answers outside the group.
  • Set a time limit of around 30 seconds to answer, so the game keeps moving.

Fun Ways to Play

  • Family game night: use the Kids category so everyone from young children to grandparents can join in.
  • Classroom icebreaker: teachers can pick Party or Kids, add students’ names and project the screen.
  • Video call: one person shares their screen, or uses Copy to paste each prompt into the chat.
  • Road trip: play truths only, since most dares need you to move around.
  • Sleepovers and birthdays: add a few personal prompts about the birthday person in Settings.

Tips for Writing Your Own Truths and Dares

Open Settings and type one prompt per line. Good truths are open questions that start a conversation, like “What is your favorite family memory?” rather than yes or no questions. Good dares take less than a minute and can be done right where you are. Your own prompts are mixed in with the built-in ones, or you can tick “Use only my own prompts” to play with your list alone. They are saved in your browser, so they are still there the next time you play on the same device.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is this truth or dare game suitable for kids?
Yes. All built-in prompts are clean and family friendly, and the Kids category is written especially for younger players. As with any game, adults should keep an eye on younger children, especially if players add their own prompts.
  2. How many truths and dares are there?
There are 200 built-in prompts: 35 truths and 35 dares for Kids, 35 of each for Friends, and 30 of each for Party. You can add up to 50 truths and 50 dares of your own.
  3. Will the same question come up twice?
Not until every prompt of that type in the category has been used. After that, the list is shuffled and starts again.
  4. How many people can play?
Any number. If you type names, the game tracks turns for up to 20 players. Without names, just pass the device around.
  5. What does Skip this one do?
It gives the same player a new prompt of the same type. Skips are counted separately, so you can see how many were used.
  6. Can we play over a video call?
Yes. Share your screen, or use the Copy and Share buttons to send each prompt to the group chat.
  7. Is anything saved?
Player names, your own prompts and your settings are saved in your browser on this device only. Nothing is uploaded. The game counter starts fresh when you tap New game or reload the page.
  8. Is it free to play?
Yes. There is no download, no account and no cost.
